Established In 1990

The National Perro de Presa Canario Club (NPPCC) was founded in 1990, by Richard G. Kelly and family. The clubs mission was to introduce this new rare breed - the Presa Canario to those enthusiasts who understood and could appreciate the many attributes of this magnificent guardian. Hopefully encouraging prospective breeders to propagate this species according to the clubs "Code of Ethics" and provide a breed registry for all certified Presa Canario dogs. This registry ultimately became the foothold that helped draw other dog registries in recognizing the Presa Canario as an official dog breed.

Reformed In 2002

In order to further advance the clubs goals it sponsored the transformation of its registry and membership to a new organization. In January, 2002, the new club was formed and is now known as "The United Perro de Presa Canario Club" (UPPCC). With the induction of club Officers and Directors, their missions were to help provide a venue where Presa Canario owners could compete with their dogs in "Conformation, Weight-Pulls, Agility, Obedience and Protection" events, and provide an opportunity to register their dogs with the largest breed specific registry (UPPCC).
